Get to Know Me
I think I’ve finally figured it out in the last 10 years how to introduce myself when someone asks, “Who are you and what do you do?”
The answer just sort of came to me one day:
I’m a Renaissance woman.
Before then, I was trying to find a category that I could fit into, but realized that I just didn’t.
I’d stumble through, “Well, I used to be a professional musician (and I still do music) and then, I became a speaker, and then, a personal counselor and professional coach, and after that, an author — but wait, I’m also a certified yoga instructor, and health coach who home schools her kids, and leads boutique retreats in Italy…”
And holy crap, I sounded schizophrenic.
How do you put all that on a business card?
Hmmm… maybe that’s why I write books: there’s enough room to tell that all in a book…
I think I was just trying to be one thing or the other so that people could have handlebars on the ride with me.
But I’m not just one thing — and I think that took some time being okay with.
The truth is this: I’m all of those things above and more. I love to write, to sing, to counsel women, to sip strong coffee or prosecco in Italy, to lead yoga, to have spiritual practices and existential questions, while I love being a mom and a wife.
So, here I am, all of me.
I’m also a process person. Those “Before” and “After” pics are all really wow-making, but the super juicy stuff is in the “How did you get there?” part of the story. I love sharing my mental processing, health pursuits, life experiences — on parenting, wifing, traveling, fear-conquering and spiritual contemplating — with others. For me, sharing the process adds value to journey – because in sharing, it reminds me of the goodness of life and it inspires you and shortcuts you to your happiest, healthiest life.
So let’s jump on in.
